Creating settings for flexible workstyles with a focus on future proofing.

In 2018 we took the Wellington Airport Project Team for a tour of our coworking showroom at BizDojo in Wellington. It was an opportunity for us to highlight the flexible nature of our furniture solutions and how it might support upcoming projects located at the Wellington Airport precinct.

After the visit to our showroom, we supplied a selection of sample furniture to be tested by users at Wellington Airport. We focused on shared soft seating, PLN Group Focus Pods and relocatable booth seating.

After some time testing the product, Wellington Airport invited Europlan and other suppliers to tender for the offices and staffroom furniture for the new Rydges Hotel that was under construction.

Client Profile
Wellington International Airport is a dynamic, vibrant and diverse place to work. It’s a gateway to our region for millions of residents, visitors and businesses every year, connecting our capital city to all parts of New Zealand and to Australia, the Pacific and the rest of the world.

As the gateway to Central New Zealand, Wellington Airport helps businesses to prosper and tourism to flourish, as well as generating employment for at least 1,500 people on the airport precinct, a further 9,900 in the local economy and is a proud supporter of Wellington events and community organisations.
The individual nature of both projects allowed us to supply a wider range of solutions.

Planning & Solutions

The Rydges fit out was delivered and installed with ease.

We consolidated product for the project and had it ready for the fit out before the site was completed. This meant any changes to the delivery schedule were easy for us to manage and we could be flexible with the airport around timings.

While working on the Rydges Hotel project, we were approached by the project team to provide a proposal for an upcoming fit out of their renovated corporate offices.

We were successful in landing the project and work began on product selection and refinement in November 2018.

The Wellington Airport project team had been working with Pelorus Architecture on a design and layout for the new offices and we tailored our solutions approach on floor plans supplied by the Architect.

Selections for the Corporate Offices were driven by the need to create settings for flexible workstyles with a focus on future-proofing the space.

Project Milestones

The delivered project for the renovated corporate offices catered for focus areas, small breakout zones and height adjustable desking for staff. The screens on the desks were upholstered in Augustus Fabric with a colour selection to complement the existing colour scheme and corporate branding palette.

Delivery and installation required attention and adherence to critical key timings. It’s a busy location with the newly opened Rydges Hotel and general airport activity.

We worked with the Airport Project team to time our deliveries during off peak hours so as not to disrupt business as usual and tie up lift access during peak check in/check out times for the hotel.

Rydges required good looking, functional furniture and the selections for the Corporate Offices were driven by the need to create settings for flexible workstyles with a focus on future proofing the space.

"I don’t want to deal with a sales rep, I want to deal with a relationship manager who has a genuine interest in our organisation and who sees value to me in offering solutions, not value in it for themselves. That’s Europlan."
