Environmental Management

As a commitment to our ongoing efforts to be an environmentally conscious business, Europlan has engaged with Toitū Envirocare to ensure we operate in a more sustainable way and with the aim of reducing our carbon footprint to meet ISO14064 accreditation. Toitū Envirocare is a subsidiary of the Crown Research Institute Manaaki Whenua-Landcare Research and is the leading provider of environmental certifications in New Zealand. The Toitū carbonzero and carbonreduce certification programmes offer a credible framework for organisations to measure, manage, reduce, and offset their carbon footprint in line with international best practice.

Product stewardship programme

We practice strict product stewardship for the lifecycle of the furniture and office accessory items we supply. Most of the furniture we supply comes with a minimum warranty of 10 years and can be dismantled, recycled or re-purposed at the end of its life. We only source furniture that’s manufactured in facilities that are accredited with ISO:14001 Environmental Management System and ISO:9001 Quality Management system.

Waste Minimisation

We continually review the environmental aspects of our operations to reduce or eliminate waste. The packaging that protects furniture during transportation is always recycled, reused or composted. Nothing goes to landfill. In addition to providing new furniture, we offer re-powdercoating of existing steel components, new tops for existing table bases, refurbishment and cleaning of existing soft seating systems, reupholstering of existing soft seating systems, and repurposing of existing table tops into new café tables or collaborative work furniture.

Environmentally friendly materials
Whenever possible, we supply sustainable office furniture that’s made from recycled materials and/or timber from responsibly-managed forests. For example, our laminated wooden products use materials that are sourced with Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification and are made from E0 low formaldehyde materials that come from sustainable forestry.
We also ensure furniture items are manufactured from non-toxic materials, to minimise any potential risks to human health.
