University of Canterbury – NEB

Space planning, consultancy services and bespoke furniture for the New Education Building

The University along with Athfield Architects went out to their panelists to tender for the New Education Building. Europlan were selected to provide the majority of furniture for a 7 level building refurbishment.

Europlan worked closely with Athfield Architects and key stakeholders from the University on the project specifications. The project involved particular attention to finishes, customisation of products and bespoke items to meet specific requirements.

Along with Europlan’s flexible and future proof systems, Athfield Architects also selected us to provide solutions and modifications to existing furniture.

Project Management

The project was originally scheduled to be delivered August 2017 but due to site construction delays the project delivery was postponed many times with the actual start of the installation being November 2018.

Due to Europlan’s flexible approach and close partnership with the University we were able to arrange storage and make necessary arrangements to uplift containers from the University, de-van and inspect the product on its return and house it in our Warehousing facility to maintain the integrity of the product.

With our Project Manager heading up the project delivery and logistics the University had peace of mind that their furniture could be inspected and delivered at any time they required as project milestones were met.

Europlan assisted in fabric selection and furniture specifications to ensure products were fit for purpose and future proof whilst working within the range of the agreed finishes.

Relationship Management

Our strong relationship with the University of Canterbury and Athfield Architects was instrumental in the success of this challenging project. The Tender to order process happened relatively quickly with both parties familiar with the innovative solutions that Europlan can offer all the varying spaces throughout a building.

Europlan were awarded the majority of the furniture in the 7 level building.

We offered value in the way of space planning, consultancy services and bespoke solutions. We assisted in fabric selection and furniture specifications to ensure product was fit for purpose and future proof whilst working within the range of the agreed finishes that we had worked with the University on when the supplier panel was formed.

The team seamlessly managed this challenging project with ease and received fantastic feedback from both the University & Athfield Architects.

"I don’t want to deal with a sales rep, I want to deal with a relationship manager who has a genuine interest in our organisation and who sees value to me in offering solutions, not value in it for themselves. That’s Europlan."
