Six years of measuring what matters: our 2026 Toitū carbonreduce results
Europlan has achieved Toitū carbonreduce certification for the sixth consecutive year, independently verified by Toitū Envirocare.
What certification means
Our greenhouse gas emissions inventory is measured in accordance with ISO 14064-1:2018 and independently verified to ISO 14064-3:2019. For 2026, Toitū rated the quality of our inventory data as High, the highest rating on its scale.
The results
Our emissions intensity, measured against revenue, has reduced by 18% from our base year. Using Toitū’s five-year rolling average, which accounts for annual fluctuations, emissions intensity has reduced by 12%.
Landfill waste has reduced by 66% from our base year, including a further 30% reduction this year.
Across our Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch sites, the electricity we purchase is supplied through our renewable electricity contract.
How we’re reducing our impact
Transport, waste and energy remain key areas of focus.
Our delivery fleet uses route optimisation and driver behaviour monitoring to help reduce fuel consumption. We have also introduced our first hybrid vehicle as we assess lower-emission options for the wider fleet.
Waste is separated and measured monthly across our three main sites, giving us a consistent view of volumes and areas for further reduction.
Our carbon reduction plan is reviewed annually alongside our business planning, with targets extending through 2027 and 2028 across areas including business travel, waste and freight.
Applying the same measurement standards each year gives us a clear view of our performance over time and where further reductions are needed.
Why it matters
As a national furniture business, freight, energy use and waste make up a meaningful part of our environmental impact. Measuring these emissions consistently gives us the evidence to make better decisions about where and how we reduce them.
Independent annual verification also gives our customers confidence that the environmental information we report is based on measured and reviewed data.
