Delivering a relaxing, fresh and vibrant space.

Workspace Architects are part of the project team that delivered over 8,500m² of base build refurbishment, earthquake strengthening and tenant integration at 44 The Terrace in Wellington.

In conjunction with the overall building refurbishment, Workspace were also involved in designing a new fit out for The Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority
(EECA) and the Human Rights Commission, a co-location occupying two floors within 44 The Terrace.

EECA is the government agency that works to improve the energy efficiency of New Zealand homes and businesses. Their purpose is to mobilise New Zealanders
to be world leaders in clean and clever energy use.

The project was designed and lead by Karys and the team at Workspace Architects in Wellington. Workspace generated an RFQ process for the project and Europlan were selected to supply the furniture for EECA.

The design of the fit out and the furniture selection provided a light and flexible work space and the solutions we proposed moved EECA away from fixed, immobile systems to collaborative, moveable pieces. EECA staff are delighted with the refreshed and refurbished space, it has created a spacious, functional and vibrant environment.

Project Highlights

A fresh new fit out was a welcome next step for EECA after a recent refresh of their brand identity. It provided an opportunity for improved consistency, space optimisation and opened up their floor plate.

Workspace specified and selected a colour palette that delivered a relaxing, fresh and vibrant feel to the space.

Project Outcomes

The revitalised reception area delivered an open and warm first impression experience for visitors. Providing clear way finding for staff and guests, and a calm, tropical feel with natural timber features and lush plants. Walls were moved in the newly designed kitchen area creating a natural hub for staff to refresh and socialise.

Project Solutions

We were able to transition staff from fixed height corner workstations to electric height adjustable linear desks. It created an increase in available floor space which allowed Workspace and EECA to design more break-out areas and soft seating clusters into the fit out. Peppering the space with comfortable social spaces for informal meetings.

Project Management

We supplied and installed the furniture for this fit out while the office remained fully occupied. We delivered and installed all items outside of normal working hours to minimise any disruption to business as usual for EECA. We worked closely with other trades on site to ensure best timing of deliveries to protect product and ensure clear space for install.

"I don’t want to deal with a sales rep, I want to deal with a relationship manager who has a genuine interest in our organisation and who sees value to me in offering solutions, not value in it for themselves. That’s Europlan."
