Wallace Cotton is a family-owned New Zealand bed linen and homeware business, founded in 2006. Celebrating beautiful designs, great quality and living with a little luxury every day, Wallace Cotton has been in homes worldwide for more than 16 years.
In June 2021, we came together with the project team at Wallace Cotton to get planning and design underway for their new corporate head office in Auckland.
The new workplace needed to cater for 22 staff, a work room, boardroom and an array of welcoming breakout spaces for staff and visitors. The design needed to reflect the values that drive the Wallace Cotton brand, natural textiles, attention to detail, enduring quality and being kind to the planet.
Wallace Cotton were after a space that provided an immediate sense of welcome, blending confident assurance that you’re entering a professional and
premium workplace.
To deliver on the brief, the curation of suitable materials, colours and textures was at the forefront of the overall design process. Mixing monochrome fittings with timber and soft finishes has delivered a resort like luxury to the space, making it a very relaxing experience for staff and visitors.
The use of plants throughout the fitout adds a layer of texture and calm to the space and provides natural zone dividers and visual privacy.
Social spaces have been designed to serve both staff and visitors, using soft sofas and bar leaners with stools to allow for multi-use and a variety of work styles and applications.
We created custom Autex acoustic screens for the office workstations, this spoke to the overall design brief in terms of aesthetics and ensured we
effectively addressed how noise would travel around the space. The use of Autex panels on the walls further managed any potential acoustic
challenges and provided pinnable space for mood boards and inspiration to take place.
Shelving units created functional room dividers and provided practical storage solutions for the office spaces.
It was important we supplied furniture solutions that gave the staff a sense of ownership over how and where they worked. The products are flexible, and staff can reconfigure the space to suit a range of team set-ups.
All workstations are electric height adjustable with programmable controllers, staff can pre-set their sitting and standing heights and add necessary and ergonomic movement into their workday.
The boardroom and work room have been intentionally designed to support the style of work that takes place in these respective areas.
Large worktables and occasional chairs complete the work room, providing a functional and relaxed space to design in. The board room delivers a confident and textural experience using wood panelling and flexible table and chairs with complimentary sideboard furniture and accessories.
Our Auckland team really enjoyed collaborating with Wallace Cotton on this project. We were able to complete the delivery and installation of the project in September 2021, navigating our way around an extended lockdown in Auckland.
